I was somewhere today in Cork Ireland. I came across this conversation and made a note of it. I share it, in case a reader would like to comment on it.
Man: “On “Ireland Today: they’re discussing Facebook etc on Ryan Tubridy radio show… I hear stuff I regard as rubbish.”
Woman: “That does describe it well. But I love it!”
Man: “Me too. I love Facebook and when people have difficulty drawing value from it I feel like helping them. Facebook is easy to control. You can reveal as little or as much as you like. You can block people that bother you. You can prevent yourself seeing what others say. You can make your page private.
“You can have no friends or many. You are in charge.
“Trivia is real. The marvellous thing about humans is that they come on so many sizes, shapes and characters. Facebook reflects that diversity, well.
If you are unwise enough to put up a photo of yourself that comes to embarrass you later, so what. It gives you an opportunity to pracise the skill of recovering from embarrassment.
Also the software is pretty easy to use after your figure it out.
… end of rant.”
Woman: “That’s so well put. Brilliant. I am sure they would love it too, if they were listening to us all…”
